So, in the midst of midterms, I’ve conveniently decided to start organizing a “blog,” to which I’ve previously only posted two items.

The scare-quotes appear in that last sentence, because I doubt that I’ll do much blogging — I’d prefer to leave it to those phenomenally better and infinitely more talented than me — but I do want a place to post all of my class material for my students. And it might be nice to aggregate all the links to poems that have been published over the years.

I also figured I should probably start uploading all these photos I’ve been taking to flickr (or a similar site), so that I can clear up my hard drive. Maybe I’ll figure out how to embed the videos I’ve uploaded to the web, too. We’ll see.

At the very least, I’m hoping to make this a central hub of information for all things “Nicholas Michael Ravnikar” — because I’m a narcissist, of course.

I think I read the tagline under the blog title in a Dan Dennet book, but I could be wrong.

Chicago Public Radio’s “Chicago Amplified” section just posted the audio from the Rapid Poetry Reading that rounded out the Series A Poetry Conference that Bill Allegrezza organized back on Sept. 19th. There’s actually two Racine poets in the lineup, Nick Demske and me, as well as a slew of other great readers. If you’ve got some free time, it’s a pretty entertaining listen. Chicago Public Radio also posted recordings of every panel discussion/presentation from the conference, so those of us who arrived line (present company the only inclusion?) can listen.

Bidding will start at $300 and will remain open until I receive the 24th bid via email (which means that bidding might continue right up until the moment I last check my email).

If the 24th bid arrives for more than $300.24, I will issue an address to which the winning bidder should send their check or money order.

Upon receipt of the check and provided that Kent Johnson’s Day is still for sale through BlazeVox, I will buy one copy of Kent Johnson’s Day and affix a sticker with the possessive of my name over the sticker with “Kent Johnson’s” affixed over “Kenneth Goldsmith’s”. Other stickers will be affixed over other stickers, and I may take some liberties with a pack of Crayola crayons.

I will then sign and number the book.

This very rare, one-of-a-kind, signed and numbered limited edition will then be mailed to the final bidder along with my box of gently used Crayola crayons.

These items will be non-returnable and non-refundable.

In the event that Kent Johnson’s Day is either no longer published by BlazeVox or costs more than $300.24, the auction will be closed.

In the event that no bids are received, or that fewer than 24 bids are received, market forces will hold the realization of this work of art in limbo until the day of my death.
